Obituary
Janice L. Robertson, 76, passed away on
Friday (May 11, 2018) at her home in Newton.
Janice was born on July 1, 1941, in
Newton to Earl and Goldie (Todd) Henry. She attended and graduated
from Newton schools.
She married Jerry Abney on Aug. 28,
1960. He passed away in 2005. She married Homer Dale Robertson on
Feb. 14, 1986, in Las Vegas.
Janice retired from the Santa Fe
Railroad, where she worked as an Administrative Secretary.
Janice was a strong-willed, caring,
kind and loving person. She was an animal lover and would have filled
her house with dogs if that would have been possible. She enjoyed
cooking, shopping and making and collecting dolls. She loved her
family and was extremely proud of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children,
Jeffrey and Cinda Abney and Natalie and Craig Shanklin;
grandchildren: Ty Abney, Cammi and Matt Schuyler, and Cody and
Montana Palmer; and her two little dogs, Sophie and Zoe.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, Earl and Goldie Henry; and her two spouses, Jerry Abney and
Dale Robertson.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10
a.m. Wednesday (May 16, 2018) at the Petersen Funeral Home Chapel in
Newton. A public visitation will be held between 6 and 9 p.m. Tuesday
(May 15, 2018) at Petersen Funeral Home, with the family present from
6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends.
A memorial fund has been established
with Caring Hands Humane Society of Newton and Harry Hynes Hospice.
