Max E. Ford
Max E. Ford,
79, died on Monday (July 21, 2008) at home in Newton with his family at his
side.
He was born
on May 22, 1929, in Chase County, Neb., to Liston L. and Verna Mae Ford. They
preceded him in death.
He married
Virginia E. Spurgeon on May 2, 1966. Together, they adopted twins, Karla and
Kurt.
He was the
owner of Ford Hearing Aid Service in Newton.
Max was a
member of Newland Church of Christ in Wheatridge, Colo. He also was a member of
the Harvey County Sheriff's Senior Patrol.
Survivors
include his wife, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law, Karla and John Winslow;
five grandchildren, Preston and Adam Ford, and Luke, Caroline and Audrey
Winslow; two sisters, Lois and Norm Greenwalt of Nixa, Mo., and Rita and Joe
Cvitonvich of Denver; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He also was
preceded in death by brothers, Merle Ford and Warren Ford; sisters, Margie
Florea, Ardith Kunkel and Wanda Miller; and his son, Harvey County Sheriff
Deputy Kurt A. Ford.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton,
with family greeting friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
A memorial
service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ in
Newton.
Memorials
have been established with Harvey County Sheriff's Department Office Equipment
Fund and the Newton Fire/EMS Equipment Fund in care of the funeral home.
