James Stull
Obituary
James Lee Stull, 87, of Arkansas City,
died May 10, 2018, at the South Central Kansas Medical Center in
Arkansas City.
James was born Jan. 30, 1931, to Frank
M. Stull and Myrtle I. (Beckman) Stull in Newton. He graduated from
Newton High School in 1949. James served in the United States Navy
aboard the USS Oriskany during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954.
On Nov. 6, 1955, he married Stella Ann
Young in Hesston and the couple made their home in Newton. They later
moved to Arkansas City where James worked for the Santa Fe Railroad
as a signal supervisor. He retired after 42 years in 1989. He was a
member of the Newton Masonic Lodge for 53 years.
James is survived by his children: Bill
Stull and wife Anita of Marysville, Washington, Janet Price and
fiancé Nolan Ward of Kaw City, Oklahoma, Ken Stull of Arkansas City,
Barb Swartzell and husband Chuck of Arkansas City and Denise Lampson
and husband David of Arkansas City; grandchildren: Levi Bryant and
wife Hannah, Megan Rosario and husband Ben, Patty Swartzell and Jake
Taton, Chase Swartzell and wife Nellie, Erik Lampson and Katie
Lampson; and great-grandchildren: Tucker, Riley, Peyton and Lane.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, Frank and Myrtle Stull; wife, Stella Stull; brother, Charlie
Stull; and sister, Dorothy Nickel.
Funeral services are scheduled for
10:30 a.m. Saturday (May 19, 2018) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home
in Arkansas City. The Reverend Dennis Voth will officiate. Interment
will follow in the Parker Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with
the Presbyterian Manor Memory Care Unit. Contributions can be made
through the funeral home.
