Waunita Jane Johnson
Waunita Jane Johnson, 78,
died Thursday (June 5, 2008) in Newton. She was born Oct. 25, 1929, in Newton
to Daniel F. and Myrtle (Lobough) Seeney. She married Ernest L. Johnson on
Sept. 26, 1946, in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2004. She
was a homemaker and also worked at Ralphs Grill and Randy's Steaks before
retiring. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 971, Eagles
Auxiliary Aerie 2516 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 2. She is survived by
two daughters, Sharon Lavender and Judy Allison, both of Newton; one stepson,
Jerry L. Johnson of Topeka; two sisters, Virginia Hensler of Emporia and Edna
Harper of Great Bend; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
her son, Johnnie L. Johnson, three sisters and two brothers.
She was a loving mother and
grandmother. She loved going to bingo.
Visitation is from 1 to 8
p.m. Sunday. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral
Home Chapel in Newton, with the Rev. Mike Ronan officiating. Committal service
will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Elbing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be made to the American Cancer Society.
