Obituary

Clifford Ernest King, 93, of Hesston, went to be with his Lord on Friday (May 25, 2018) at Pine Village, Moundridge. He was born on Feb. 18, 1925, in Newton to Ezra W. and Mary Longenecker King.

He gave his heart to the Lord at the age of 10 and was baptized at East Emmett Church, northwest of Newton. He was a member of Newton First Church of the Nazarene.

Clifford was a graduate of Newton High School and attended the University of Kansas and Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. Clifford was a concrete construction contractor.

In 1953, he married Alberta Eby. Together, they had five sons. He later married Marilyn Ostlund on June 28, 1980, and she survives.

Other survivors include sons: Craig (Marilyn), Springdale, Arkansas, Douglas (Rae), Hesston, Byron (Cindy), Medical Lake, Washington, Philip (Joanne), West Chicago and Michael (Peggy) of Hesston; Marilyn's children: Jeffrey (Michelle) Ostlund, Mt. Hope, Melinda (Mike) Nachtigall, Hesston and James (Jodi) Ostlund, McPherson; 22 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Kathryn (Charles) Turkington, Wilmore, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Ann King, Albany, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Stacy King; his sisters and their husbands: Ruth (Elton) Jones, Ethel (Bailey) Wade and Helen (Arthur) Smith; and brothers and wives: Leroy (Lois) King, Raymond (Yvonne) King and James King.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday (June 2, 2018) at the Newton First Church of the Nazarene, with family present from 4 to 6 p.m. A committal service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday (June 3, 2018) at Eastlawn Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, with The Reverend J. Jay Hawes presiding.
