Obituary
Diane Wood, 62, passed away on Friday
(May 25, 2018) at Via Christi -St. Francis in Wichita.
Diane was born on Aug. 25, 1955, in
Barstow, California, to Gerald E. and Ernestine (Kush) Baxter.
Diane married Gregory L. Wood on June
10, 1989, in Wichita. They were married for 28 years, but together
for 31 years prior to her death.
Diane was a strong-willed,
straightforward person. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing
bingo, fishing and was an avid cat fan. She was a loving and caring
wife, mother and grandmother who placed others before herself. She
dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Diane worked for the
Newton Public School system for 13 years. She retired from the Newton
Public Schools on Aug. 25, 2015.
She is survived by her husband, Greg
Wood; children: Jason (Erica) Wolfe, Shawn (Teara) Wolfe and Amber
(Mike) Smith; sister, Sharon (Harold) Hood; and four grandchildren:
AJ, Autumn, Makayla and Isaac.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, Gerald and Ernestine Baxter; and sister, Lillian Guffey.
A memorial service will be held at a
later date.
A memorial has been established for the
American Cancer Society and the Caring Hands Humane Society of
Newton.
Diane fought hard with cancer until God
called her home. Her family will value many memories of her and will
remember her as a loving and caring person who was their best friend.
