Gordon H. Wells
Gordon H. Wells, 54, of
Lawrence, died Sunday (June 22, 2008) at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was
born on Sept. 27, 1953, in Newton to Mary Jean and D. Bradford Wells. Gordon
graduated from Newton High School in 1971 and received a bachelor of arts in
journalism from The University of Kansas in 1976. He married Wendy S. Martin on
June 5, 1976. They made their home in the St. Louis area and had three
children: Molly Martin Wells, Lyndon Hubbell Wells, and Andrew Martin Wells.
Gordon maintained a small advertising agency and was a golf writer and golf
course rater. He moved to Lawrence in 2004.
He is survived by his
daughter, Molly Duffy (Michael) of Castle Rock, Colo.; his mother, Mary Jean of
Wichita; his brother, Lyndon (Marty) of Wichita; his sisters, Anne Wright of
Overland Park and Susan Aniello (Tom) of Wichita; three nieces; and five
nephews.
Gordon was preceded in death
by his father, Brad, and his two sons, Lyndy and Andy.
A book signing will be from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway in
Newton.
Graveside service will be at
11 a.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
