Abram Amrine Jr.
Abram Amrine Jr., 85, passed
away Tuesday (June 17, 2008) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. He was born March
23, 1923, in southeast Kansas to Abram Sr. and Alice Amber (Stewart) Amrine.
They preceded him in death. Abram attended school in Kinsley and graduated from
Garfield High School in 1941. He then went to work for the oil fields in
western Kansas for 15 years and began his truck driving career. He then went to
work for Safelite glass company in Wichita for 28 years before retiring. His
time with Safelite took him to all states but Alaska and Vermont.
He greatly enjoyed truck
driving, recalled fondly his time driving and would share his memories with his
friends.
He formerly attended Grace
Community Church in Newton, where he was a greeter, and currently attended
Hesston United Methodist Church. He also was active in the Newton Area Senior
Center.
Abram married Helen Pearl
Dick on June 22, 1998, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2007.
Abram and Helen greatly
enjoyed traveling together and visiting their friends in nursing homes to cheer
them up. He looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many
friends.
Survivors include
stepdaughter, Bette Holley of Deridder, La.; and sisters, Claribel Pullian of
Laurel, Mont., Beatrice Seba of Larned and Corrine and Victor Ingrum of
Branson.
He also was preceded in death
by a sister, Ruth Kirchgassner.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Funeral service will be at 1
p.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, with Chaplain Beverly Baumgartner
of Schowalter Villa officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood
Cemetery.

made to Harry Hynes Hospice or Schowalter Villa in care of the funeral home.
