RICHARD ROSS
SEDGWICK -- Richard Ross, 70, died June 25, 2003, in White Pass Alaska.
He was born Jan. 14, 1933, to Fay Preston and C. Bertha (Fryar) Ross in Halstead. They preceded him in death. He married Leah May Vaughan Aug. 1, 1954, in Bucklin. She dies June 25, 2003.
He was a retired aeronautical engineer; an independent consultant in aircraft investigations and a retired partner with Business Computer Centers of America in Newton. He was a member of Sedgwick United Methodist Church. He was a troop leader for Sedgwick Boy Scout Troop no. 487, a member of the Newton Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer children's advocate for Court-appointed Special Advocates. He was a former Sedgwick school board member and enjoyed acting in Newton Community Theater.
Survivors include: a son, Charles Ross of Bartlett, Tenn., and george Ross of Mishawaka, Ind.; a daughter, Lynn Ross of Philadelphia; a nephew, Michael Cooper of Lawrence; two brothers, john Ross of bartlesville, Okla., and Robert Ross of Burrton; and seven grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Faye Cooper.
Friends may sign the book from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kaufman Funeral home in Halstead. family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be 10 a. m. Saturday at R. L. Wright Elementary School in Sedgwick with the Revs, Katie Johnson Martin and Eldon Cox officiating.
Burial will be in Valley Township Cemetery in rural Burrton.
Memorials have been established with Sedgwick United Methodist Church and Sedgwick Boy Scout troop No. 486, both in care of the funeral home, 418 Chestnut street, Halstead, KS 67056.
