Obituary
The Reverend Nathan J. Morgan died June
28, 2018 in Halstead. He was born Feb. 2, 1953, in Hays, to Joe D.
and Ella (Sanders) Morgan.
Nathan graduated from Hobbs High School
in 1971 and Panhandle State University in 1975. He married Lorraine
G. Ivie of Guymon, Oklahoma, on July 6, 1976, and with her embarked
on a life of ministry as he graduated from Phillips Theological
Seminary and was ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church
in 1979. He spent his adult life as an itinerant pastor in the United
Methodist Church, serving churches in Jefferson, Renfrow, and Ponca
City in Oklahoma; and Argonia, Goodland, Kendall, Lakin, Wichita,
Anthony, and Newton in Kansas. In addition to his ministry, Nathan
enjoyed history, politics, music and astronomy; and collected stamps,
coins and comic strips (especially Peanuts).
Nathan is survived by wife Lorraine
Morgan; daughter, Rachelle Morgan; and sons, Joseph Morgan and his
wife Dyan, Wesley Morgan and his wife Angela, and Davis Morgan. He
was blessed with four grandchildren: Alice, Millie, Theo, and Bea.
Other survivors include sisters Penelope Morgan and Jill Lawson,
brother Tim Morgan, brothers-in-law Gary and Paul Ivie, and Keith
Lawson, sister-in-law Arletta Ivie, and many cousins and extended
family members. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held at 10
a.m.Tuesday (July 3, 2018) at Greenwood Cemetery followed by a
memorial service at 11 a.m. First United Methodist Church of Newton.

(UMCOR) in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton.
