Betty Baehr
Obituary
Betty June Baehr, 95, passed away on
May 31, 2018. She was born March 17, 1923, in Sedgwick and was a
graduate of Sedgwick High School.
Betty married her high school
sweetheart, Marvin C. Baehr, on Feb. 4, 1942. Marvin had his draft
notice in his back pocket at the time of their marriage. He served in
the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater until December of 1945.
During the war, Betty worked at Boeing.
After Marvin's return from the Army, they moved to Newton, where
Betty attended classes at Bethel College. Betty worked for First
Kansas Life Insurance Company for 30 years and was the corporate
secretary upon her retirement.
Betty and Marvin enjoyed 20 years of
retirement before Marvin died on May 19, 2003. Marvin and Betty often
said "We have had good lives, always hoped for the best,
enjoying having our two sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren."
Betty is survived by her two sons,
Marvin Ralph and Randall Chris (Son Chae); and grandchildren, Ashley
E. (Jim Palmer) Baehr, Justin R. (Kristen) Baehr and Christine
(Daniel Wiltshire) Baehr.
A private family graveside service will
be held at a later date.
