Obituary
Sandra Lea Salsbury, 80, died Sunday
(June 17, 2018) at her rural Hillsboro home surrounded by family.
She was born on Feb. 12, 1938, in
Lawrence, the daughter of Jess Albert and Doris Irene Farmer Cole.
Sandy was raised in the Lawrence and Park City areas.
She enjoyed working in the yard and
gardening. Sandy married Marvin Wayne Phillips Sr. on Sept. 2, 1956.
They would buy "fixer upper" homes, with the last house she
remodeled being her current home.
Sandy later married Darrell Lee "Doc"
Salsbury on Aug. 10, 2005, in Ottawa.
She loved to feed the wild raccoons
that would come to the house.
Survivors include her husband, "Doc"
of the home; son, Marvin W. (Debra) Phillips Jr. of Walton; daughter,
Tamara Perkins and husband Roger of Newton; four grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two cats, George
and Snicklefritz.
Sandy is preceded in death by her
parents; and brother, Gary Norman Cole.
Funeral services will be held at 11
a.m. Saturday (June 23, 2018) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Friends may
call at the funeral home from 1 until 8 p.m. Friday (June 22, 2018),
where the family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m.
A memorial has been established with
