Rubie Reimer
Obituary
Rubie A. Unruh Reimer was born on June
29, 1921 in Marion County to Gerhard and Anna Unruh.
She married Wilbert V. Reimer on April
30, 1942 and followed him to CPS Camp in Oregon and later to an
institution to work with disabled people in Wisconsin.
In the early 1950s, she and Wilbert
settled in North Newton.
She worked at Banman's IGA and later at
the General Conference offices in Newton. She retired in 1983 and she
and Wilbert traveled extensively to European countries and Africa.
She enjoyed camping, quilting with the Mission Quilters, the EZ
steppers, and the Red Hat Society.
She and Wilbert moved to Kidron Bethel
Village in 1998. Wilbert died in 2000. After his death, Rubie
volunteered at Kidron by fixing snacks for Healthcare Residents. She
lived at Kidron for approximately 20 years until her death.
She is survived by her son: James of
Pueblo, Colorado; daughter: Betty and husband, Jim Wyckoff of
Cherryvale; granddaughters: Reven Flaming Bronson and husband, David,
Hilary Flaming of Hawaii; and Laura Reimer of Pueblo, Colorado; and
two great grandchildren: Jonas and Bo Bronson.
She was preceded in death by her
husband: Wilbert; parents: Gerhard and Anna Unruh; sisters: Amanda
Dirks and her husband, Edwin, Erna Seeney and her husband, Dave; and
brother: Karl Unruh and his wife, Helen.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10
a.m., July 9 at the Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton.
A graveside committal will be held at 9 a.m. at Restlawn Gardens of
Memory in rural Newton prior to the service.
