Obituary
Sarah "Sally" Fleming, 97,
died Friday (July 13, 2018) at Schowalter Villa in Hesston. She was
born Sept. 9, 1920, in Henderson, Nebraska, to Jacob and Sarah
(Harder) Peters. Sally attended schools in Henderson and graduated
from Tabor Academy in Hillsboro. She was a graduate of the Bethel
College School of Nursing and worked as a Nurse Anesthetist in Omaha,
Nebraska, Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton and Halstead Hospital
in Halstead.
She married Peter Fleming on Sept. 4,
1954, and he preceded her in death.
She was a longtime member of the First
Mennonite Church in Newton. Sally had a love of the Lord and was a
generous steward to Christian labor. She had a wonderful sense of
humor and loved visiting with friends and family, giving generous
hugs and helping people as she could. She also enjoyed spending time
reading as her eyesight permitted. Sally's family would like to
express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Schowalter Villa
for their care of Sally though the years. It is gratefully
appreciated.
Sarah is survived by her nieces: Elvera
Suderman, Elvina Janzen and Darlene (Arvid) Janzen; and nephews, Walt
(Marlene) Ott and Stanley Peters. She is also survived by a host of
great-nieces and nephews, and friends who she cherished very much.
She is preceded in death by her
parents; husband; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and George
Friesen; brother and sister-in-law, Aaron J. and Helen Peters; sister
and brother-in-law, Helena and Henry Ott; and niece and her husband,
Esther and Herb Dick.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m.
Wednesday (July 18, 2018) at Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston, with
Pastor Anita Kehr and Chaplain Peter Hartman presiding. Graveside
committal will precede memorial at 11 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery,
Newton. Sally's register book will be available 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday
(July 17, 2018) and 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral
Home.

Schowalter Villa Benevolent Fund or First Mennonite Church in care of
Petersen Funeral Home.
