Obituary
Angelita Angela Espitia Flores died
peacefully on Thursday (July 19, 2018) in Wichita at the age of 88.
Angela is survived by her husband,
Basil "Tony" Flores; children: Ronald of Wichita, Michael
and wife Shari of Newton, Charles of Wichita and Robert and wife
Valerie of Newton; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her
parents; infant son, Rodger Steven Flores; son, Larry Flores; and
many siblings and cousins.
Angela was born on Jan. 10, 1930, in
Sedgwick to Rufino Espitia and Magdalena Chavez. She went to school
in Sedgwick through the fifth grade. She later went to a welding
program at Newton High School and received her certificate in
welding.
She married Basil, her lifelong
sweetheart, on Dec. 17, 1948, and they were married for 70 years
prior to her passing. After moving to Newton, she began her working
career at many different companies. Over time, the couple welcomed
six children into their home. Her children remember her as a
hard-working, giving person who encouraged them to pursue their
goals.
She was driven by her desire to help
others and volunteered her time at the Et Cetera Shop and the
Salvation Army. She loved Jesus and had a power and commitment to
help others in Jesus' name (Amen). She was a prayer warrior and was
always willing to pray for others. She was an active and dedicated
member of the religious community in Newton.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2
p.m. Tuesday (July 24, 2018) at Petersen Funeral Home of Newton. All
are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
