Oswald 'Ozzie' Schmidt
Oswald 'Ozzie' Schmidt,
formerly of Newton and Walton, passed away March 4, 2008, in Redwood City after
a brief with mesothelioma. His wife of 56 years, Virginia, and daughters
Kaylene and Stephanie were by his side.
Ozzie was born Sept. 6, 1929,
in Goessel to Dan and Mary Schmidt. He graduated from Walton High School in the
class of 1948.
He was employed at Santa Fe
Rail Mill and Beachcraft and Boeing aircraft companies before moving to
California, where he worked for United Airlines for more than 34 years.
Ozzie was active in many
groups and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking and especially
bicycle riding and dancing.
He married Virginia Griffith
of Newton and raised three daughters, Kaylene, Melinda and Stephanie. They also
had twin granddaughters, Kaylene and Kellie. He also leaves a brother, Delmar,
of San Mateo, Calif., and a sister-in-law, Eunice Schmidt of Newton.
He was preceded in death by a
sister, Lois Ollenburger of Colorado, and a brother, Dennis Schmidt of Newton.
