Eleanora Ida Riffel
Eleanora Ida Riffel, 95,
passed away Wednesday (May 14, 2008) at Kidron Bethel Health Care in North
Newton.
She was born March 27, 1913,
in Hillsboro to Richard and Ida (Pohlman) Ebel. They preceded her in death.
She married Lamar Riffel on
Nov. 24, 1941, and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1994.
After her marriage, she moved
to Newton and lived throughout her life. Eleanora was an active member of Zion
Lutheran Church in Newton, where she was a member of the Ladies Aide. She also
worked as a church secretary and homemaker.
Eleanora loved traveling,
sewing and needlepoint. She also looked forward to spending time with her
loving family and many friends, especially her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include son, Brad
Riffel of Newton; granddaughter, Kim and Jason Dispensa of Newton;
great-grandchildren, Avatrice, Damon and Duncan Dispensa of Newton; and several
nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in
death by a daughter, Brenda Hanson, and nine brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 1 to
5 p.m. Sunday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends
from 2 to 3 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 2
p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Newton, with the Rev. Dean Von Stroh of
the church officiating.
Burial will be at Zion
Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Memorial contributions may be
made to Zion Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hour or the American Cancer Society in
care of the funeral home.
