Dorothy White

Dorothy White, 92, passed away Thursday (May 8, 2008) at Asbury Park Healthcare in Newton.

She was born March 20, 1916, in Agra to John and Ora Viola (Hock) Portenier Jr. They preceded her in death.

On Aug. 30, 1937, she married Orel E. White at Hot Sulphur Springs, Colo. He preceded her in death.

Dorothy worked as a pastry chef and homemaker. She greatly looked forward to spending time with her many friends and loving family.

Survivors include daughters, Barbara and Franklin Callaway of Pratt and Sandy and Jerry Killfoil of Newton; son, M.E. White of Grand Junction, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Fern Portenier of Alma, Neb., and Vivian Portenier of Fruitland, Idaho; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two infant sons, one daughter, one granddaughter, three sisters and seven brothers.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Sandy Killfoil of Community Church of God in Newton officiating.

Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Valley [View] Cemetery in Agra.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Church of God in care of the funeral home.
