Wilma L. (Hand-Stribling)
Fey, 91, died March 5, 2008, at Middlefield Oaks Assisted Living in Cottage
Grove after a long illness.
She was born Jan. 10, 1917,
in Newton to the late Robert and Ethel Hand.
She graduated from Newton
High School in 1933.
On Nov. 2, 1941, she married
O.T. Stribling Jr. They had two children, Dick and Sheryl. While living in
Newton, she worked for Newton High School as a secretary and Bethel Hospital
and Medical Arts as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was widowed the first time
in 1969.
On April 21, 1973, Wilma
married Carl E. Fey and moved to Arvada, Colo., and then to Florence, Ariz.,
where they retired. She enjoyed golf, fishing, camping and traveling in their
RV. She was widowed again in 1997. In recent years, she enjoyed living near her
children when she moved to Casper, Wyo., prior to her residence in Creswell and
Cottage Grove, Ore.
Wilma was an active member of
the First Presbyterian churches in Newton, Arvada, Florence, Ariz., and
Creswell. She was a member of P.E.O Chapter S and served two terms as Chapter
EQ president. She was a leader for Cub and Boy Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts
in Newton when her children were small.
Wilma is survived by her son,
Dick Stribling (Linda) of Casper; daughter, Sheryl Webb (Dick) of Creswell;
stepdaughter, Susie Woodworth (Lynn) of Arkansas City; stepsons, Tom Fey (Gay
Anne) of Littleton, Colo., and Monty Fey (Bonnie) of Newton; brothers, Duane
Hand (Dorine) of Rogers, Ark., and Bill Hand (Judy) of Newton; 10
grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in
death by her sister, Doris Littlefield, and one grandchild.
Graveside service will be at
2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. A celebration of life will
follow at Fox Ridge Conference Center, 800 S. Kansas Ave. in Newton.
