Karl J. Friesen
Karl J. Friesen, 72, passed
away Thursday (May 22, 2008) at his Newton residence.
He was born Jan. 26, 1936, in
Mountain Lake, Minn., to Cornelius Bernhardt and Anna (Stoesz) Friesen. They
preceded him in death.
On June 28, 1955, he married
Betty J. Unruh in Newton. She survives of the home.
Karl was co-owner and
operator with his wife of the Old Parsonage Bed and Breakfast in Newton. He was
a woodworker and enjoyed antiques and antiquing.
Karl enjoyed meeting and
getting to know the many people who stayed at their bed and breakfast. He
looked forward to spending time with his loving family and many friends and
neighbors. He especially liked to be with his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Other survivors include sons,
Gregory and Genevieve Friesen of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael Friesen of
Lone Tree, Colo., Russell and Andrea Friesen of Shawnee, and Darrin Friesen
M.D. and Linda of Clayton, Mo.; brother, Ronald Friesen of Loveland, Colo.;
sister, LuAnna Voth of Newton; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving friends
from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
A private family service will
be held with Chaplain Barbara Lee officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood
Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial contributions may be
made to Central Care Cancer Center in care of the funeral home.
