Faynell M. Lehman
Faynell M. Lehman passed away
Monday (March 31, 2008), two days before her birthday, at Harry Hynes Memorial
Hospice in Wichita, after a short illness.
She was born April 2, 1919,
in Ryan, Okla., to Lou (Winder) and Roy Miller.
Fay graduated from Ryan High
School in Ryan and continued with her education at Oklahoma University in
Norman and Oklahoma City Cosmetology School, where she graduated.
While in Oklahoma City, she
met Trevor Lehman. They were married on March 6, 1941, and celebrated 67 years
of marriage just weeks ago.
After Trevor's return from
the Air Force, they relocated to Newton, where Trevor began his new position
with the U.S. Postal Service. While in Newton, Fay started and completed her
career of more than 30 years in the retail business.
She loved meeting and talking
with people. This was her passion and, throughout her life, she enjoyed
interaction with people. Fay never met a stranger.
Fay is a charter member of
Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton.
She supported her husband and
enjoyed her family and her grandchildren, supporting their activities and
remaining in regular contact with them even though they were miles away. Fay
also enjoyed planting flowers and decorating their yard.
She is survived by her
husband, Trevor, of Newton; daughter, Becky (Gary) Pankratz of Davenport, Iowa;
two grandchildren, Bryce Pankratz of Bloomingdale, Ill., and Lori Pankratz, of
Davenport.
Preceding her in death were
her parents; two sisters, Bonnie Southard and Adelle Parks; and two brothers,
Ivan and Raymond Miller.
Visitation will be at 9 a.m.
Thursday at Trinity Heights UMC, with funeral service following at 10 a.m. at
the church.
Burial will follow at
Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.
Memorials have been set up to
Trinity Heights UMC Library Fund or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of
Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, which is in charge of arrangements.
