Lessie Clarice Schmidt
LINDSBORG - Lessie Clarice
Schmidt, 88, longtime Newton resident, died Wednesday (April 2, 2008) at
Bethany Home in Lindsborg with her family by her side.
She was born Oct. 11, 1919,
in Liberal, Mo., to Leslie and Bertha Miller.
She married Walter R. Schmidt
on Dec, 2, 1945 in Hebron, Neb. He survives of Lindsborg.
Walter and Lessie lived in
the Hebron area until moving to Newton in 1957. In Newton, Lessie worked as a
self-employed housekeeper for many years. After retirement, they moved to
Weslaco, Texas, in 1984.
They moved to Lindsborg in
2002. In Lindsborg, Lessie was very active with many of the activities in
Bethany Home. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Salina.
Other survivors include three
brothers; two sons, Dennis and wife, Marsha, of Apex, N.C., and Curtis and
wife, Pamela, of Newton; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by
one son, Richard Gene Schmidt.
Memorial services were held
at the Bethany Home Chapel today, with Pastor Bill Buschbom presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to Bethany Home or Hospice of Salina.
