Whitewater man dies in
farming accident
WHITEWATER - A 24-year-old
Whitewater man was killed during a farm accident Friday.
Authorities believe Chris Harder,
24, was working on a planter on a farm a quarter mile north of Butler Road at
Northwest 30th Road near Whitewater when he became entangled in the machinery,
said Det. Sgt. Kelly Herzet of the Butler County Sheriff's Department.
He may have been run over or
dragged by the planter, Herzet said.
A family member found Harder
in the field away from the planter about 5:30 p.m.
Emergency personnel were
called, and Harder was taken to Kansas Medical Center in Andover, where he was
pronounced dead.
Harder was a farmer and
stockman.
