Bernadine M. Gronau
WHITEWATER - Bernadine M.
Gronau, 92, passed away Saturday (March 8, 2008) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born May 3, 1915, in
Florence to Joseph M. and Ina (McAllister) Waner.
She was raised and attended
school in the Florence area and lived her entire adult life farming in the
Whitewater area.
She married John J. Gronau
Sr. in Florence in February 1942. He preceded her in death in 1961.
She was a farm wife and
former cook at Axtell Hospital in Newton. She was a lifetime member of the
Whitewater American Legion Auxiliary and a member of St. Mark's Altar Society
and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton.
Survivors include sons, John
Gronau Jr. of Whitewater and Bernard (Shar) Gronau of Seguin, Wash.; brother,
Tom Waner of Lawrence; grandchildren, Tim (Traci) Gronau of Whitewater, Deanna
Gronau of Sherman Oak, Calif., Matt Gronau of Kansas City, Kan., and Katie
(Michael) Yaniec of Anchorage, Alaska; and great-grandchildren, Courtney and
Kirstie Gronau of Whitewater and Madeline Yaniec of Anchorage.
Visitation will be from 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Lamb Funeral Home in Whitewater.
Rosary will be recited at 10
a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe, followed by funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.
at the church with Fr. Juan Garza officiating.
Inurnment will take place at
a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery in Newton.

Bernadine Gronau memorial fund in care of the funeral home.
