Tillie Marie Stika
LINCOLNVILLE - Tillie Marie
Stika, 90, died Thursday (March 13, 2008) at Sedgwick Health Care in Sedgwick.
She was born March 15, 1917,
in Lincolnville, the daughter of Louis V. and Mary P. (Moravec) Kroupa. They
preceded her in death.
She grew up on a farm
northwest of Lincolnville and attended country school near Lincolnville.
She married Louis C. Stika
Sr. on May 26, 1941, in Pilsen. He preceded her in death.
She was a farmer's housewife
and loved the outdoors. She was a hard worker, always had a large vegetable
garden and loved flowers. She helped her father build the farmstead east of
Lincolnville, where she lived most of her married life.
She loved to travel and did
have the opportunity to visit her father's relatives in Nedvedice, Moravia,
Czechoslovakia in 1972. She also visited her mother's relatives in Minnesota.
She loved to attend Polka and Czech festivals in Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota
and Texas.
She was a member of the Holy
Family Parish, St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen and also was a
member of the Altar Society. She also was a longtime member of the Midwestern
Polka Club of Kansas.
She is survived by daughters,
Betty Augustine and husband, Steve, of Hesston and Arlene Stika of Kansas; and
grandson, Brent Hayen and wife, Paula, of Marion.
She also was preceded in
death by daughter, Rose Marie (Stika) Hayen; son, Ernest; sister, Albina
Kroupa; and brother, Joseph Kroupa.
Visitation will be from 9
a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm in Marion, with family
present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Rosary will be recited at 10
a.m. Tuesday at the church in Pilsen, followed by funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at
the church, with Fr. Mark Wesely as Celebrant.
Interment will be at Pilsen
Cemetery following the service.
Memorials have been
established with the Pilsen Community Center or the Fr. Kapaun Guild, both in
care of the funeral home.
