LAWRENCE - Edith Irene (Hall)
Hayes, 73, passed away Wednesday (March 19, 2008) at The University of Kansas
Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
She was born May 7, 1934, in
Newton to Verlin Ovid and Nora Ella (Frerking) Hall. They preceded her in
death.
Edie was a warm-hearted woman
with never-ending energy and a passion for life. She never met a stranger.
Edie loved holidays, food and
her "morning" shows. Her family was her life, especially her seven
grandchildren and great-grandson.
Survivors include sons, James
Lee Hayes of Shawnee Mission and Mark Jeffrey Hayes of Gardner; daughters,
Renelle Lynn Hayes of Creston, Calif., and Jennifer Hayes of Shawnee; brothers,
Jim Hall of Potwin and Olin Hall of Greencastle, Ind.; sisters, Judy Whiteside
of Foley, Ala., Janette Mathena of Greenwood, Ind., and Jolene Wilson; seven
grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She also was preceded in
death by a brother, Donald L. Hall; infant sister, Jean Kathleen Hall; and
infant brother, Leo Ovid Hall.
Visitation will be from 8 to
10 a.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with funeral service
following at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, with Bishop Steve Edwards of
Tree of Life Church in Wichita and Pastor Brad Fangman of Crossroads Christian
Church in Shawnee officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood
Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the Arthritis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
