Margaret H. Ray
Margaret H. Ray, 94, passed
away Thursday (March 20, 2008) at Asbury Park Healthcare in Newton.
She was born Oct. 24, 1913,
in Leon to Charles and Vida (MacRitchie) Shriver.
She married Marion Ray on
Sept. 14, 1932, in Leon. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2004.
Margaret was an active member
of Salem United Methodist Church of Newton and a former member of Trinity EUB
church in Wichita.
Margaret worked alongside her
husband for many years at their Southwest Livestock Commission Co. She also
worked in the office of the former Innes department store in downtown Wichita.
At the time of her death,
Margaret was the longest living resident of Asbury Park. She volunteered
delivering Meals on Wheels, was a former board member of Central Homecare and
Hospice, and was a member of the former 20th Century Club in Wichita.
She enjoyed crocheting and
embroidery and loved to cook for her family. Margaret looked forward to
spending time with her many friends and loving family.
Survivors include daughter,
Marilyn McKee of Bowie, Md.; son, Dr. Philip C. Ray of Dalhart, Texas; five
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family receiving
friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be at 10
a.m. Friday at Salem United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sherry Clemons of
the church officiating. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at White
Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita.
Memorial contributions may
be made to Asbury Park or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of the funeral
home.
