Velma Tolby
Velma Tolby, 84, passed away
Friday (March 21, 2008) at Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
She was born Sept. 29, 1923,
in Ava, Mo., to Alvis and Mary (Shelton) Twitty. They preceded her in death.
She married Dwight Tolby on
Dec. 22, 1942. Her preceded her in death in 1990.
She was a cashier at PM Place
Co. for 25 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newton. She loved
sewing, walking and her family and children.
Survivors include daughters,
Geri Minner and husband, Gary, of Wichita and Gail Kirtley and husband, Tim, of
Newton; granddaughters, Mary Hayes and husband, Steve, of Tulsa, Okla., Megan
Kirtley of Seattle and Nicole Kirtley of Wichita; grandsons, Richard Sybert of
Wichita and Aaron Kirtley and wife, Shannon, of Newton; three
great-grandchildren; one sister; and three brothers.
She also was preceded in
death by three sisters and two brothers.
Memorial service will be at 2
p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Newton, with Pastor Terry Tareila of
the church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the church youth missions.
