Allen J. Jantz
Allen J. Jantz, 91, passed
away Monday (March 24, 2008) at Presbyterian Manor in Newton.
He was born Jan. 31, 1917, in
Tampa, Kan., to Jonas H. and Suzie (Wedel) Jantz. They preceded him in death.
On June 6, 1947, he married
Salome Schmidt in Goessel. She survives of the home in Newton.
Allen was a member of
Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel. He was a retired former. He also
worked in the mobile home industry and was a former custodian for Washington
School in Newton.
Allen enjoyed working with
leather crafts, gardening and woodworking. He greatly looked forward to
spending time with his loving family and many friends.
Other survivors include son,
Gary and Norma Jantz of Topeka; daughter, Greta Ann and Leon Salmans of Park
City; brothers, Harold Jantz of Elyria and Leo Jantz of McPherson; two
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three great-great-grandchildren; and one
step-grandchild.
He also was preceded in death
by a brother, Ervin Jantz; and sisters, Rowena Roth, Bertha Jantz and Alice
Jantz.
Visitation will be from 10 to
11 a.m. Saturday at Alexanderwohl Church, followed by funeral service at 11
a.m. at the church, with pastors Linda Ewert and Lee Suderman officiating.
Burial will be at Alexanderwohl
Cemetery in Goessel.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the church in care of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, which is in
charge of arrangements.
