Marian Prouty Cougher
WICHITA - Marian Prouty
Cougher died peacefully in her sleep on her 92nd birthday (March 27, 2008) at
Lakeview Village Care Center in Lenexa with her son and daughter-in-law at her
bedside.
Marian was born March 27,
1916, in Newton. She retired from the Kansas State Employment Service in 1977
after 35 years of employment. She lived the majority of her life in Wichita,
moving to an assisted living facility in Lenexa in 2000. She was a member of
the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Wichita for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her son,
Maurice Cougher, and daughter-in-law, Kathryn Cougher, of Lenexa;
granddaughter, Katherine Hays of Lawrence; grandson, John Cougher of Norman,
Okla.; two great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and nine nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; five siblings; and her husband, Paul B. Cougher, who died in 1983.
Funeral services will be at
11 a.m. Tuesday at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East in Wichita. Entombment
will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Marian's son and
daughter-in-law would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at
Lakeview Village Care Center for the compassionate and professional treatment
shown to Marian in the last years of her life. They are special people, and we
are most grateful.
