Michael K.
Tieszen, 51, of Newton passed away Thursday (Jan. 31, 2008) at Newton Medical
Center.
He was born
Nov. 14, 1956, in Newton to Lewis E. and Patricia Louise (Parks) Tieszen.
On Dec. 17,
1977, he married his high school sweetheart, Glenda Morton of Newton. She
survives of the home.
Mike was a
member of the Old Main Street Church of Christ and the American Society of
Quality, Section 1307.
He was
raised on a farm north of Walton and was a 1974 graduate of Newton High School,
where he participated in track and football and qualified for state wrestling.
He also
played football at Bethel College, where he received a degree in industrial
arts education. He earned a master's degree in quality management from Friends
University.
He had 21
years of service with Boeing and Spirit Aerosystems. Mike also had taught
evening classes for Southwestern College.
He was a
sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed golf, and pheasant and elk hunting.
Mike was a
teacher and follower of God's word and a devoted husband, caring son, brother
and loving father who greatly looked forward to spending time with family and
friends.
Other
survivors include daughters, Kathy and Darrick Shepherd and Elizabeth Tieszen,
all of Newton; son, Steven and Sarah Tieszen of Newton; mother; and sister,
Marilyn Tieszen of Mission.
He was
preceded in death by his father and a brother, Richard Tieszen.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with
family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral
service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Christ, located at First and
Columbus. Darrick Shepherd and Chuck Northrop will officiate.
Burial will
be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton.
Memorial
contributions may be made to the Old Main Street Church of Christ Building Fund
in care of the funeral home.
