Claudius
Loyd "CL" Dickson, 93, passed away Sunday (Feb. 3, 2008) at
Wheatstate Manor in Whitewater.
He was born
Feb. 12, 1914, in Hutchinson, the son of Herbert P. and Grace (Snyder) Dickson.
They preceded him in death.
He married
Maxine Gates on May 5, 1937, in Wellington. She survives of the home.
"CL"
enjoyed gardening, reading and working on the farm. He was mechanically gifted
and enjoyed tinkering around and fixing things.
Other
survivors include sons, Jerry W. Dickson of Carefree, Ariz., John W. Dickson of
Valley Center, and Ron G. Dickson and Don Dickson, both of Newton; daughters,
Connie L. (Dickson) Krenzer of Joplin, Mo., and Beulah (Dickson) Turner of
Kansas; sisters, Grace Ellen Van Skike of Great Bend, Virginia Kernan of
California and Joyce Bender of Halstead; 16 grandchildren; and 24
great-grandchildren.
He also was
preceded in death by a son, Robert G. Dickson; brother, Archie Dickson; and
grandson, Gage Ream.
Visitation
will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home
Chapel in Newton.
Funeral
service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel, with Chaplain
Peter Hartman officiating.
Burial will
be at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial
contributions may be made to Central Care of Kansas in care of the funeral
home.
