Ila Mae
Quiring, 97, passed away Monday (Feb. 11, 2008) at her residence in Newton.
She was born
Aug. 1, 1910, in LaCrosse to John Anton and Etta May (Martin) Huber. They
preceded her in death.
She married
Harvey Quiring on Feb. 1, 1933, in Howard. Ila and Harvey traveled all over the
United States. When they retired, they moved to Newton to be close to
relatives. Harvey preceded her in death.
Ila loved to
do crosswords so much that she would do one or two a day and would not go to
bed until they were done. She was very smart, witty and highly independent.
Ila was the
family historian. She leaves behind many extended family and friends.
She also was
preceded in death sisters, Fura Foos, Anna Busch and Mary O'Brien; and
brothers, Harry Huber, Kenneth Huber and Jack Huber.
Visitation will
be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
Graveside
service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, with
Chaplain Denny Bell of Kansas Christian Home officiating.
Memorial
contributions may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society in care of the funeral
home.
