Obituary
Linda Kasitz, 90, passed away Sept. 10,
2018.
Born July 6, 1928, she was the youngest
of 10 children. She received many awards through school for
academics, track and music. She graduated from Newton High School and
Bethel College.
On July 9th, 1950, she married Bill
Kasitz and they were married for 67 years. They traveled to the
Bahamas and to Europe and Alaska, and most of the states in the
United States. They had three children with whom she shared her
talent in music, teaching them piano.
She taught piano lessons to 40 students
a week and continued teaching until she was in her 70s. She also
taught organ lessons at church; she was the church children's choir
director and accompanist for her daughters. Linda was also the
accompanist for the adult church choir and played piano and organ for
the First United Church of Christ and the Evangelical Reform Church
back in the day. She also played for weddings, funerals and soloists.
She was a member of the Treble Clef
Club, Loyal Daughters, Women's Fellowship, the Eagle Auxiliary and
the Circle 8 Square Dance Club.
She was a very talented musician,
sharing her gift in many lives and ways. She was a mother who
listened and taught her children the Christian way of living, as well
as how to cook and sew, and supported them in Girl Scouts, Boy
Scouts, 4-H, church youth fellowship and made it possible for them to
take lessons on their instruments of choice: piano, clarinet, viola,
flute, violin, cello, guitar and percussion, which they have used in
their adult lives. She was a very giving person who took care of her
parents, brother and a sister at the end of their lives.
She loved her family, gave a lot of her
time and talent to the church and community and is now with her
husband, Bill, and God.
Linda is preceded in death by her
husband, Bill; parents, Samuel and Louise Klein; all of her siblings;
sons-in-law, Bill Boothe and Rick Smith; and grandson, James Boothe.
She is survived by her children,
Phyllis Boothe (Gary) Dix, Shirley Smith, Rodney (Leanne) Kasitz;
grandchildren: Howard (Maria) Boothe, Marcus, Kaleb and Curtis
Kasitz; great-grandchildren: Haylie West, Hayden, Tyler and Ella
Boothe; and six grandpuppies.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 7
p.m. Thursday (Sept. 20, 2018), with the family present from 5 until
7 p.m. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be
held at 10 a.m. Friday (Sept. 21, 2018) at the First United Church of
Christ. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
