Carol M.
Daniels, 65, passed away Friday (Feb. 15, 2008) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born
Nov. 10, 1942, in Wichita to Richard Arthur and Beulah (Gibbs) Simmons.
She married
Archie Daniels in Buffalo, Mo., in 1972. He preceded her in death.
She was
employed in the manufacturing industry for more than 30 years and retired in
Newton to join her family.
She was a
member of the First Church of God in Newton and the Women's Auxiliary of the
American Legion in Warsaw, Mo., and held many offices.
Carol
enjoyed spending time with her grandson and watching him play basketball. She
loved the outdoors and fishing and was fascinated with hummingbirds. She was an
expert seamstress and loved embroidering, needlework and quilting. She was known
for her colorful personality and fun-loving ways.
Survivors
include daughters Melinda (Daniels) Vogel of Newton and Roberta Powers of
Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Brenda Crain of Kansas City; brothers, Roger Simmons
of Kansas City and John Wayne Wheeler of Springfield, Mo.; grandson, Adam
Vogel; mother, Beulah (Gibbs) Simmons; and three additional grandchildren.
She also was
preceded in death by her father, Richard Arthur Simmons; brothers, Butch
Simmons, Johnny Simmons and Ronald Simmons; and sister, Coreen Wilson.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family
greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral
service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Church of God, with Pastor Brian
Curran of the church officiating.
Burial will
be at Sunnyside Cemetery in Lincoln, Mo.
Memorial
contributions may be made to the church in care of the funeral home.
