Lillian Gunnels
GODDARD - Lillian Gunnels,
79, of Goddard, passed away Monday (Jan. 7, 2008) at Medical Lodge of Goddard.
She was born Aug. 21, 1928,
in Oklahoma to Joseph and Eva (Koehn) Eck. They preceded her in death.
She married Charles Gunnels
on Sept. 17, 1949, in Newton. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2007.
Lillian enjoyed writing
poetry, needlework and cooking. She also enjoyed collecting angels and thimbles
and listening to country and gospel music. Lillian greatly looked forward to
spending time with her loving family and friends. Her grandchildren were
especially close to her.
Survivors include daughters,
Ginnette Gunnels of Goddard and Grace McConnell of Valley Falls; sons, Glenn
Gunnels of Wichita and George Gunnels of Phoenix; brothers, Detrick Eck of
Newton and Paul Eck of Elk Falls; sisters, Eva Lena Suderman of Hesston, Marie
Matz of Kechi and Malinda Guhr of Newton; five grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to
9 p.m. Friday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, with family greeting friends
from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Graveside service will be at
11 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorial contributions can be
made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
