Michael 'Mike' Rempel
Michael "Mike"
Rempel, 46, passed away Sunday (Jan. 20, 2008) at his residence in Newton. He
is gone to his heavenly home and will be missed by family and friends.
He was born Sept. 24, 1961,
in Goessel to Lloyd and Frances (Siebert) Rempel. He was the youngest of five
children.
He married Aleta Markley on
April 19, 1987 in Wichita. She survives of Newton.
Michael was employed at
Wichita Welding Supply as a welder repair man for nearly 20 years. He was well
respected and a dependable employee.
Michael was a craftsman who
loved to work with wood. He could fix lots of things and did his own home
repair.
Michael had a tender heart.
He was known as a "happy-go-lucky" kind of guy and was very well
liked. He had a great sense of humor and was even able to laugh at himself.
Michael adored his wife,
Aleta. He valued life and took pride in simple pleasures. He was certain of his
heavenly home and his best friend, God.
Other survivors include his
mother, Frances (Siebert) Rempel; brothers, Bruce Rempel and wife, Deana, and
Steve Rempel, all of Newton; and sisters, Debbie Rempel of Wichita and Nancy
Kaufman and husband, Kenton, of Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by
his father.
A memorial gathering will be
at 2 p.m. Friday at The Breadbasket in Newton.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial contributions may be
made to The Salvation Army in care of Petersen Funeral Home in Newton, which is
in charge of arrangements.
