Dorothy J. Duerksen
BUHLER – Dorothy J. Duerksen, 91,
passed away Sept. 30, 2015, at the Buhler Sunshine Home. She was born
Jan. 20, 1924, in Newton.
She married Benjamin F. Duerksen May
23, 1942, in Newton. He passed away Jan. 1, 1994. After raising four
children, Dorothy graduated from Hesston College and had a fulfilling
career as a registered nurse. She was a member of Buhler Mennonite
Church. Survivors include: two sons, Chris Duerksen of Everglades
City, Fla., Matt Duerksen of Richmond, Va.; family friend, Jan
Duerksen of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren, Benjamin Duerksen,
Matthew Duerksen, Laura Duerksen, Mark Duerksen and Emily Duerksen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy Duerksen; a
daughter, Susan Duerksen; a son in infancy, Mark Duerksen; a sister,
Myra Mae Belgard; and a brother, Robert Brown.
Visitation will be at 3 p.m. and
Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at the
Buhler Sunshine Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
memorial contributions be sent to the Timothy and Susan Duerksen
Memorial Scholarship Fund at Buhler High School, in care of Buhler
Mortuary, P.O. Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
