Verna Reimer
HESSTON - Verna Reimer, 83, retired
registered nurse, died Tuesday (Sept. 19, 2000) at Schowalter Villa
in Hesston. She was born June 26, 1917, in Goessel to Abraham and
Elizabeth Schmidt. They preceded her in death. She married Milferd J.
Reimer March 11, 1944, in Goessel. He survives. She graduated from
Goessel High School in 1936 and received her registered nurse's
diploma from Axtell Hospital in 1943. She was a nurse at the former
Axtell Christian Hospital and Clinic, retiring in 1977. She was a
member of First Mennonite Church, the Homemakers Sunday School class
and E.H.U. She moved from Newton to the Schowalter Villa in Hesston
in 1999.
Other survivors include: one son,
Lindley J Reimer of Liberal; one daughter, Janene Armbruster of
Granite Bay, Calif.; one brother, Eldon Schmidt of Newton; four
sisters, Emma Reimer of Loveland Colo., Nola Koehn of Newton, Viola
Ratzlaff of Goessel and Luetta Frey of Hillsboro; and five
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son,
Jerold Reimer, and four brothers.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p. m.
today and from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m. Friday with family greeting friends
from 8 to 9:30 p. m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 10 a. m.
Saturday at the First Mennonite Church of Newton with Pastor Rusty
Bonham officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
