Timothy Michael Duerksen

BUHLER -- Timothy Michael Duerksen, 56, musician and teacher, died Dec. 7, 2000 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He was born May 6, 1944, to Benjamin F. and Dorothy Brown Duerksen in Newton. He received his bachelor's degree in music in 1967 and master's degree in music in 1969 from Wichita State University. He was a musician and teacher at several schools and music programs throughout the Midwest. He was a member of the Buhler Mennonite Church.

Suvivors include: a mother, Dorothy Duerksen of Salina; two brothers, Christopher Duerksen of Denver and Matthew Duerksen of Fredericksburg, Va; and a sister, Susan Duerksen of Salina.

He also was preceded in death by: a father, Benjamin F. Duerksen; and a brother, Mark Duerksen.

Family will greet friends from 2 to 3 p. m. Sunday at Buhler Mennonite Church.

Memorial service will be 3 p. m. Sunday at Buhler Mennonite Church with Pastors Bob Dalke and Nick Rempel officiating. Cremation has taken place.

Memorials have been established with the Tim Duerksen Music Scholarship Fund at Buhler High School in care of Buhler Mortuary, 120 N. Main St. in Buhler.
