Darrek
Eugene Hopkins, 34, passed away Saturday (Nov. 10, 2007) at Newton Medical
Center.
He was born
Feb. 22, 1973, in Newton to Darrell and Donna (Andrews) Hopkins.
He was a
member of Whitewater Center Church in rural Burns.
He lived in
Newton for the last several years.
Survivors
include his father, Darrell Hopkins of Joshua, Texas; mother, Donna Slatten of
Collins, Mo.; a grandmother, Darlene Nonken of Peabody; a brother, Darren of
Loveland, Texas; a step brother, John Slatten; step sisters, Hope Espinoza,
Samantha Hudson and Kathy Stark; and nieces and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by a brother Daniel in 1999.
Visitation
with family present will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Lamb Funeral Home in
Whitewater.
A graveside
service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Whitewater Center Cemetery in rural
Burns. Pastor James Pohlman will be officiating.

may be made to ResCare of Kansas in Newton in care of the funeral home.
