Raymond E. Frey, 81, passed away Saturday (Nov. 17, 2007) at Bethesda Home in
Goessel.
He was born
Oct. 23, 1926, in Newton to Edward and Augusta (Neufeld) Frey. He was married
to LuEtta June Schmidt on May 19, 1949, in Goessel. He was a member of Tabor
Mennonite Church for 63 years.
Raymond was
an educator and administrator. Early in life, he was a conscientious objector
and served 1.5 years in civilian public service in California. He also served
as stewardship director of General Conference Mennonite Church for 12 years.
He is survived
by his wife, LuEtta Frey; a son, Sherwin Frey and wife, Debra Fischer, and
their daughters, Samantha Frey and Emily Frey, all of Los Angeles; daughters,
Marcene Entz and husband Thurman of rural Newton, Melissa Beitler and husband,
Jim, of Berne, Ind., and their children Jim Beitler and wife, Brita, of Ann
Arbor, Mich., and Genevieve Beitler and Ashley Beitler of Chicago; a brother,
Marlin Frey of Newton; sisters Earla Critchfield of Hesston, and Nila Chambers
of Wichita; stepmother Adelia Frey of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation
will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller
Funeral Home in Goessel.
Funeral
service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tabor Mennonite Church in rural Goessel.
Burial will follow the service at Tabor Mennonite Cemetery.

can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee in care of the funeral home.
