Ralph J.
Hunsaker, 69, Newton, died Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2007) at Via Christi Regional
Medical Center - St. Francis Campus of Wichita.
He was born
May 2, 1938, to Newton and Anna (Dublin) Hunsaker at Advance, Mo. They precede
him in death.
He married
Ruth A. Hunsaker on June 11,1956, in Dexter, Mo. She died May 2, 2006.
He worked as
a machinist and truck driver for most of his lifetime. After Ruth's death,
Ralph followed his love for animals and began helping out at the Great Plains
Animal Hospital in Newton. He loved walking the dogs and tending to the other
animals there. He will be missed by many people. Ralph was described as a very
happy person and could lift the spirits of those around him. He also enjoyed
woodworking and small engine repair.
Survivors
include a daughter, Terri Goodman and husband Bob of Sedgwick; a son, Duane
Hunsaker of Newton; four brothers, Gene Hunsaker of Dexter, Mo., Bill Hunsaker
of Springfield, Mo., Jerry Hunsaker of Springfield, Mo., and George Hunsaker of
Eugene, Ore.; four sisters, Virginia Sherfield of Dexter, Mo., Pansy Gianacakas
of Springfield, Mo., Linda Christian of Fordland, Mo. and Glenda Fowler of
Highland, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He also was
preceded in death by brothers J.D., James and Burl Hunsaker.
Visitation
will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. The family
will greet friends from 3 to 5 p.m.
Service will
be at 1 p.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home with Chaplain Peter
Hartman officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Gardens of Memory.
A memorial
fund has been established with Great Plains Animal Hospital in care of the funeral
home.
