Jannell Dunn

Obituary

Janell Louise (Wilson) Dunn, 79, beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday (Sept. 6, 2018).

She was born June 9, 1939, in Wichita to Milton L. 'Jim' Wilson and Helen 'Pauline' (Pearce) Wilson. She was a 1957 graduate of West High School in Wichita. On June 8, 1958, she married the love of her life, G. Dwaine Dunn.

Janell is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dwaine Dunn; children, Deaune (Tim) Maddock of Topeka, Dennis (Ellen) Dunn of Ballwin, Missouri, and Doug (Becky) Dunn of Valley Center; grandchildren: Chris Maddock, Aleesha (Isaac) Wilson, Sarah Maddock, Douglas (Anastasia) Dunn, Brian Dunn, Heather (John) Moran, Caleb Dunn, Cameron (Kyla) Dunn, Kelsey Dunn, Nathanael Dunn and Meghan Dunn; great-grandchildren, Logan and Declan Dunn; brother, Dr. James (Vivien) Wilson of Tucson, Arizona; and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Pauline Wilson.

Janell's children and grandchildren were the joy of her life. She and Dwaine cherished the times they got to spend playing with and supporting family. They were usually found on the sidelines or in the stands of their children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities.

Janell also enjoyed camping, getting together with friends, playing games and making crafts. One of the highlights of her month was getting together with her "Grannies" group for laughing and sharing stories about her kids and grandkids, and don't forget the pictures. Janell was an active member of the First Christian Church in Sedgwick and Broadway Christian Church in Wichita as youth sponsor, Sunday School and VBS teacher, children's choir director and adult choir member.

While raising her family, Janell worked in the school districts in Sedgwick and Wichita. She worked in food service and the office in Sedgwick's school system before transferring to the Wichita school system, where she worked at Linwood and Rea Woodman schools. She then worked in the administrative center for the Wichita school district in the personnel department before retiring as an administrative assistant to the superintendent.

A celebration of life was held with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday (Sept. 9, 2018); service was at 10 a.m. Monday (Sept. 10, 2018), both held at the First Christian Church, 514 N. Franklin, Sedgwick. Graveside service followed at White Chapel Cemetery, 1824 N. Oliver, Wichita.

Memorials may be designated in her memory to First Christian Church, 514 N. Franklin, Sedgwick, KS 67135. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com.
