Obituary
Kathy Jo Laswell went to be with her
Lord and Savior on Saturday (Sept. 15, 2018) while hospitalized at
Harry Hynes -Via Christi St. Francis.
Kathy was born on Jan. 23, 1963, in
Newton to James and Marjorie (Olmstead) Laswell.
Kathy graduated from Newton High School
and attended Wichita State University.
Kathy accepted Jesus Christ as her
personal savior at an early age. While growing up, she attended AWANA
classes and church summer camps. Kathy had attended Bible Baptist
Church of Newton.
Kathy was self-employed as a contractor
of janitorial services. She had a small house cleaning service and
later worked 15 years for Excel Industries as a janitorial
contractor. She was a charitable person and contributed to many
worthwhile charities throughout her life.
She is survived by her parents, James
and Marjorie; sister, Deborah Kaufman of Enid, Oklahoma; brother,
Robert Laswell of Newton; and many family members.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10
a.m. Friday (Sept. 21, 2018) at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel. The
family will be at the funeral home to greet friends from 9 to 10 a.m.
prior to the service. A committal will be held at Greenwood Cemetery
following the service.
A memorial has been set up for the
American Cancer Society, 330 S. Main St., Wichita, KS 67202.
Kathy fought a long and difficult
battle with cancer over the last two years. She was greatly loved by
her family and will be deeply missed. Two scriptures that sustained
Kathy and her family were Psalm 46:1-2. They read, "God is our
refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble; Therefore I will
