Virgie Headings, 91, died Nov. 11, 2009, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born June 9, 1918, in McPherson County, the daughter of Frank and Lizzie Zimmerman Hostetler.
She was a graduate of Hesston Academy, Hesston. A resident of Hutchinson, she was a homemaker.
She was a longtime member of the former Yoder Mennonite Church and taught Bible school and Sunday school at the church for many years.
On March 20, 1938, she married Noah "Dubb" Headings in Hesston. He died Oct. 25, 1980. Survivors include: sons, Randy Headings and wife Marie and Leland Headings and wife Karla, all of Hutchinson; daughters, Shirley Yoder and the late Lloyd C. Yoder, South Hutchinson, Judy Troyer and husband Les, Yoder, and Janet Headings, Hutchinson; brothers, Kenneth Hostetler and wife Dora, Hesston; sisters, Margaret Hostetler and Irene Koehn and husband "Gib," all of Hesston; nine grandchildren, Corwin Yoder and wife Michelle, Lori Kizziar, Tony Troyer and wife Terri, Janell Troyer, Carma Troyer, Kendra Headings, Ben Headings, Nicole Headings and Kristen Headings; eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer Carmichael and husband Dustin, Stephanie Troyer, Matthew Troyer, Cara Yoder, Emily Yoder, Makenzi Yoder, Jeremy Kizziar and Kylee Kizziar; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Galloway and Maddix Troyer. She was preceded in death by her parents; and five sisters, Nona Hostetler, Flossie Miller, LeOra Caldwell, Doris Hostetler and Wilma Hostetler.
Funeral services will be at Journey @ Yoder located 1 mile north of Yoder, Saturday Nov. 14, 2009, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Howard Wagler, Pastor Dennis Stutzman and Pastor Eric Miller presiding. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday Nov. 13, 2009, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House or M.C.C. (Mennonite Central Committee), in care of the mortuary.
