Kenneth E. Hostetler
Obituary
Kenneth E. Hostetler (Gov), 85, of
Hesston, passed away on Monday (March 28, 2011) at Newton Medical
Center.
He was born on March 23, 1926, in
Hesston, the son of Frank and Lizzie (Zimmerman) Hostetler.
He married Dora (Sommer) Dettwiler on
Oct. 25, 1952, in Washington, Iowa. She survives of Hesston.
Kenneth was a graduate of Hesston
Academy in Hesston. He was a member of Hesston Mennonite Church in
Hesston.
Kenneth was the owner of Kenny's
Phillips 66 in Hesston until his retirement in the 1990s. He always
was involved with cars since he was young. He started off working for
King Motors in Hesston. He was an avid fan of racing, always watching
NASCAR and Indy cars on Sundays and attending the Indy 500 for
numerous years.
He is survived by his wife, Dora of
Hesston; step-son, Harry (Butch) Dettwiler and wife, Valerie of
Wichita; stepdaughter, Ann Schroeder and husband, Jerry of Arkansas
City; sisters, Irene Koehn and husband, Gilbert, and Margaret
Hostetler, all of Hesston; grandchildren, Angie and Bob Whiteman of
Andover, David and Tish Detwiler of Wichita, and Kelly and Becky
Schroeder of Overland Park; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his
parents; sisters, Flossie Miller, Wilma Hostetler, LeOra Caldwell,
Virgie Headings, Nona Hostetler and Doris Hostetler; grandson, Greg
Schroeder; and a great-granddaughter, Clarissa Whiteman.
Family will greet friends from 6 to 8
p.m. Wednesday at Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday at Hesston Mennonite Church in Hesston. Pastors John C.
Murray and Cheryl Hershberger will officiate. Burial will follow the
service at Hesston City Cemetery.
