Richard Morgan
Richard Morgan, 75, died
Sunday (Sep. 30, 2007) at his home surrounded by his wife and children. He was
born on Aug. 3, 1932, in Newton to Catherine and Richard Morgan Sr. They
preceded him in death. He was a graduate of The University of Kansas and the
University of Denver Law School. He practiced law in Newton for 46 years;
during that time, he served as police judge and county attorney. Prior to law
school he served in the U.S. Army for two years. On June 6, 1953, he married Maggie
Terry. She survives at home.
He also is survived by five
children, Catherine Polley and husband Tim and son Pasha of Newton, Mark and
wife Jane and daughter, Pilar, and son, Brooks, of Lexington, Ky., Anne Lund
and husband Don, and daughter, Abby Martinez, and sons, Ian Lund and Nate
Martinez of Wichita, sons, John of Newton and Michael of Phoenix, Ariz.;
grandchildren, Amy and Scott Sheffler; and sisters, Pat Kaufman of Wichita, and
Gwen Suderman and Gail Morgan, both of Newton.
He was preceded in death by a
daughter, Terry Sheffler, who died April 7, 2007.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m.
today at St. Mary's Church in Newton.
Funeral Mass will be at 10
a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church.
