Virginia Lee Miner
Virginia Lee Miner, Asbury
Park resident, passed away Monday (Oct. 1, 2007) .
She was born and raised in
Wichita. She was a graduate of East High School and attended Wichita Business
College and Wichita University before marrying Vern in 1942 and starting a
family. Her life revolved around her daughter, PTA meetings and home room events.
She was an excellent cook and became well known for her fancy sugar cookies at
Washington Grade School. Years later she was the pretty lady with a smile,
greeting customers at local health food stores. She and Vern moved to Newton in
2004.
Her life hobby was taking
care of her beloved cats, Bigfoot, Kitty Kat, Mitzi, Mini, Mike, Kubi Kahn and
Charlie.
Survivors include a daughter,
Mary "Merrilee" Lee of Newton; a nephew, Bill and Bobbie Miner of
Cleveland, Mo.; a great-nephew, Landon Shane and Angela Miner; a great-great
niece, Delana Louise Miner; a great-great-nephew, Derek Wayne Miner, all of
Adrian, Mo.; a great-niece, Tracy Dawn Miner and Justin McCarthy; and a
great-great-niece, Taylor Olivia McCarthy, all of Kansas City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by
her husband of 63 years, Vern; a great-nephew, Brandon Wayne Miner; and her
parents, Charles and Ina Mae Baldwin.
Visitation will be from 5 to
6 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
A family graveside service
will be Friday in Wichita.
