Cheryl L. Smokorowski
Cheryl L. (Moore)
Smokorowski, 56, died Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2007) at her home in Newton. Services
will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Chapel, 120 E. Broadway
in Newton. She was born April 5, 1951, in Newton to Ralph Kenneth and Virgil
Ann (Riggs) Moore. She grew up in Florence and moved to Newton in 1965. She was
part of the Newton High School graduating class of 1969. She married Wilhelm
Smokorowski in September 1970, later divorcing in 1997. She was the proud mother of Kevin and Karla
and grandmother of Paul Jakub.
Cheryl was a longtime
employee of the USD 373 Newton schools as a cook and custodian at Newton High
School. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and she will be
missed by many.
She was preceded in death by
her father, Ralph Kenneth Moore, brother, David R. Moore, and sister-in-law,
Betty Moore.
Survivors include her mother,
Virgil Ann Moore of Newton; sister, Shirley Fink of The Woodlands, Texas;
brother-in-law, Elwin Fink of The Woodlands; and son, Kevin Smokorowski,
daughter-in-law, Dyane Smokorowski, grandson, Paul Jakub Smokorowski, and
daughter, Karla Smokorowski, all of Wichita.
In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be made to Newton High School Library in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral
